Our Precious Democracy

Because we believe “All…are created EQUAL,” we hold dear our Representative Democracy.

For 250 years, veterans, union members, and civil rights marchers have improved upon our self-governance with their sacrifices to extend to more Americans the right to vote and personal freedoms. When our elected leaders take their oaths to the U.S. Constitution seriously and do the necessary work of representation, regardless of party affiliation, we deliver greatness from our country, and The USA stands as a beacon of Democracy.

As a trusted member of our U.S. Congress, I pledge to:

  • Uphold my oath to defend and support the US Constitution.
  • Safeguard the rights and power of The American People.
  • Legislate in the best interests of Everyday Americans.
  • Ensure our national security.
  • Maintain solid relationships with our trusted allies.
  • Hold accountable those in power who violate our country’s laws.
  • Pass term limits for justices of the Supreme Court and age limits for US Senators and US Representatives.
  • Hold in-person town halls in the district.

To defend and support the U.S. Constitution is to carry out the critical functions of this office. One of the powers of Congress is that of the purse. Congressionally-approved funds use taxpayer dollars to support programs of federal agencies and departments that in turn, support The American People. Yet, in early 2025, the current Trump administration unconstitutionally paused the federal funding of 2600 programs.

After unpausing them, President Trump then allowed his advisor, the wealthiest person on Earth, Elon Musk, to raid several federal agencies. Devoid of appropriate security clearance and, according to the attorneys of federal workers, in violation of laws, union contracts, and civil service agreements, Musk and his illegal Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) helped themselves to classified information as well as the personal information of the American People, then stored it in unsecured files whose whereabouts are unknown. Attempts to subpoena Musk and his associates were thwarted by Republicans in Congress.

Since then, Trump, like a mad king, and his administration have, without consent of Congress; enacted tariffs indiscriminately against several nations, abused the power of the United States military to kill over 60 alleged drug traffickers in the Caribbean sea in violation of US and international laws, abused the power of Immigration Customs Enforcement to detain American citizens without due process, accepted a $400 million jet as a gift from a foreign nation in violation of the Emoluments clause, engaged in speculation and profit through crypto-currency schemes, indicted his political foes on dubious charges, demanded The Department of Justice grant him $230 million dollars in compensation for having been investigated, pardoned January 6th criminals, eroded the trust of our Allies, unjustly fired thousands of federal workers, compromised our national security, threatened to overrun American cities with the National Guards of other states, and torn down the East Wing of The White House.

The Trump administration has violated so many laws, there are currently over 245 legal challenges to it.

Meanwhile, the Republican-controlled Congress does nothing to check Trump’s crimes.

PA-13’s own US Representative, multimillionaire John Joyce, is a part of that collective silence.

Joyce voted against The Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act, The Inflation Reduction Act, The American Rescue Plan, and many other important pieces of legislation that are in the interests of Everyday Americans. All of that followed his egregious refusal to certify the valid electoral votes of Pennsylvanians who voted in 2020. This year, Joyce voted twice for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act that removes healthcare and food assistance from millions of our neediest Americans, including over 17 thousand constituents in our 13th Congressional District.

The intransigence of elected Republicans, especially those entrenched in power for decades, has now led to a lack of a continuing resolution for our federal budget and a partial shutdown of our federal government.

When Congress ceases to function, the American People have no voice in our own government.

Our U.S. Congress has effectively yielded the power of The People to the executive branch. That’s why Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, handed over his speaker gavel to Trump on July 4th, 2025.
