As your candidate for Pennsylvania’s 13th Congressional District, it is my honor and pleasure to deliver to you where I’ve been and what issues I’ve tackled in the past week. As our Democracy becomes increasingly imperiled by President Trump like by his stationing the National Guard in Portland against the advice and wishes of the state and local government there, or using the power of the presidency to prosecute his political foes starting with James Comey, the collective POWER of the PEOPLE rises.
We saw that power’s effectiveness this past week when Jimmy Kimmel returned to the airwaves despite Disney suspending his show the previous week at Trump’s behest over Kimmel’s criticism of Trump.
With the targeted actions of canceling subscriptions to the Disney and Hulu channels, cancelling vacations at Disney World, Disneyland, and on Disney cruise ships, as well as halting purchases from the Disney company, the PEOPLE powerfully communicated their righteous anger with Disney for bending the knee to the US President who trampled the First Amendment Right of Free Speech by demanding that the company take Kimmel off of the air.
After losing billions of dollars and thousands of customers the Disney corporation caved and reinstated Kimmel’s show.
In less than one week.
Of course, it’s easier to target one particular company rather than an entire government run by a madman and his bootlickers, but when the goal is specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART), tens of thousands of people can take that action and make a positive difference.
Imagine what the collective POWER of THE PEOPLE can do next.
By supporting candidates like me, Beth Farnham, who will hold accountable the cruel and corrupt officials of this administration, we can fight the rising cost of living, institute universal healthcare, reinstate lost food assistance, create more jobs, raise the federal minimum wage to a real living wage, rely less on fossil fuels and more on alternative forms of energy, enshrine into federal law our reproductive freedom and gun safety, re-establish trust with our greatest allies, and strengthen national security.
In short, we can make better lives for Everyday Americans so that we don’t simply exist but we THRIVE.

On Sunday, at the Adams County Heritage Festival hosted by the Interfaith Center for Peace and Justice Gettysburg/Adams County, I had a good conversation with a veteran who wanted to hear my views knowing full well that we might not agree on everything.
Though he came in with his strong views about the “unborn” as he termed them, he politely listened as I spoke about the rights of all Americans, including women, to have agency over our own bodies, that no legislator should come between the decision a living, breathing woman makes with her healthcare professionals, and that the draconian anti-abortion laws have resulted in the preventable deaths of mothers.

Moreover, he liked that I said we should have fewer abortions and did not argue when I explained that the way we get there is through comprehensive, science -based, and LGBTQ+ inclusive sex education.
Pennsylvania must remove the crisis pregnancy centers from teaching their unvetted “education” to public school students and leave the sexuality instruction in the hands of public school teachers certified in secondary health education.
While abstinence is important to be taught, so must condoms and birth control because the key to reduce d numbers of abortions is preventing unwanted pregnancies in the first place. And the people to do this are the certified teachers we trust, not church people wearing scrubs with a religious agenda, or trying to profit from church donations by claiming to have “saved babies.”
