District Round-up 01.11.26

Dear Neighbor,

Thank you for reading my District Round-up. As your candidate for Pennsylvania’s 13th Congressional District, it is my honor and pleasure to deliver to you where I’ve been and what issues I’ve tackled in the past week. Criss-crossing the counties of Adams, Franklin, Fulton, Bedford, Cambria, Blair, Huntingdon, Mifflin, Juniata, Perry, Cumberland, and Somerset gives me great opportunities to meet with voters, hear what is on your hearts and minds, and the chance to voice my fight for Everyday Americans. If you would like to contribute to my campaign, please donate here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/beth-farnham-for-congress-1

Come to my Town Hall on January 24th and join the conversation about Healthcare and Affordability in PA-13!

Come to the Pennsylvania Farm Show! Celebrate the bounty of Pennsylvania agriculture and don’t forget to buy a milkshake!

Many thanks to Blair County Indivisible and to activists in Johnstown for holding peaceful demonstrations against I.C.E. yesterday.

The agent who shot the suburban mom multiple times in the face instead of moving out of the way of a turning vehicle traveling at an extremely low speed induced “officer-created jeopardy” and murdered her in cold blood on Wednesday.

RIP Renee Good

None of the training that he received supports standing in front of a car and shooting at a driver like her because that’s not considered an effective way to stop a threat and it may actually escalate one.

“Experts say firing at a moving car is one of the riskiest forms of lethal force, increasing the chance of stray gunfire or a loss of vehicle control that can endanger bystanders.

Are officers expected to move out of the way?

Yes. Justice Department policy says deadly force is allowed only when no reasonable alternative exists, including stepping out of the vehicle’s path.”

In fact, the only justified shooting of a driver that I can think of in recent memory was the one in France when a truck driver killed 80 people until someone stopped him. That’s the kind of driving threat that may be stopped that way.

American officers, both federal and local, must be trustworthy with deadly force, or we don’t live freely.

Some of us don’t even get to live at all, especially, people of color who are disproportionately the victims of unjustified deadly force by law enforcement.

Tuesday was the 5 year anniversary of a day that will live in utter disgrace.

And our own US Representative, multimillionaire John Joyce, was a part of that. Furthermore, he hasn’t criticized Trump at all for having pardoned those domestic terrorists.

When elected US Representative for PA-13, I will honor my oath to the US Constitution because the sacrifices of so many in the name of Democracy shall not be forsaken.

Together, we #ChooseDemocracy

If you’re like me, you love this country as much as I do and work to make a positive difference. In the midst of this Constitutional Crisis, please consider reaching out to your local Democratic committees or Democratic candidates so that we can strengthen our Democracy instead of letting it slide into fascism.

We don’t just #ChooseDemocracy, we choose Pennsylvania, we choose The United States of America, we choose Humanity and I am deeply glad to work along side you.

Sincerely,

Beth
