District Round-up 10.18.26
Dear Neighbor, Thank you for reading my District Round-up. As your candidate for Pennsylvania’s 13th Congressional District, it is my honor and pleasure to deliver to you where I’ve been and what issues I’ve tackled in the past week. Criss-crossing the counties of Adams, Franklin, Fulton, Bedford, Cambria, Blair, Huntingdon, Mifflin, Juniata, Perry, Cumberland, and Somerset gives me great opportunities to meet with voters, hear what is on your hearts and minds, and the chance to voice my fight for Everyday Americans. Governor Shapiro Stumps in Johnstown

Many thanks to Governor Shapiro for stumping in Johnstown!
This election is critical and re-electing our caring governor is important to protect our state from the overreaches of the current and criminal presidential administration.
Governor Shapiro has my support and our 13th Congressional District has his.
In fact, one of the reasons I support him is for taking the line out of the state budget for grants to religiously-founded crisis pregnancy centers. These dens of iniquity are generally not licensed healthcare centers. Instead, they’re places where church people in scrubs actively deter vulnerable pregant women from seeking abortion, using “deceptive counseling” and unregulated medical equipment. I also appreciate his advocacy for victims of sex abuse when he was Attorney General.
I also support him for opposing the Trump administration on their illegal requests for SNAP beneficiary information and voter intimidation.
Please vote for me, Beth Farnham, for Congress and for Josh Shapiro for Governor on November 3rd.
Together, we #ChooseDemocracy !

Gun Safety to Protect Our Precious Children

Why do I fight for Gun Safety?
Because gun violence is still the leading cause of death for U.S. children
RIP school children of Oregon today 🥀🥀🥀
“Three children were among the killed: They were ages 5, 8 and 11, according to Bend Police Chief Mike Krantz.”
As an elected member of Congress, I pledge to vote for laws that protect our children.
That means voting for safe storage of guns, universal background checks for all gun sales, reporting of lost or stolen guns, and Extreme Risk Protection Orders (Red flag laws) for those who present a threat of harm to themselves or others.
Please vote for me, Beth Farnham, on November 3rd so I can protect our children instead of accepting the rotten status quo.
Together, we #ChooseDemocracy and the safety of our children!
Endorsement Alerts!

Many thanks to the Alliance for Retired Americans for their endorsement of my campaign.
They know that I’m fighting for Americans to retire with dignity and that means affordable healthcare, pension security, and quality long-term care.
You know whom they’re not endorsing?
My opponent who claims that he will do these things and he’s a dermatologist, no less.
Please vote for me, Beth Farnham, on November 3rd, so that I can enhance the quality of life for older Americans.
Together, we #ChooseDemocracy!

Many, many thanks to the United Auto Workers of America and to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Penna Conference for their recent endorsements of my campaign.
America would not be the superpower it is without the hard work of these unionized employees who sacrificed so much so that many American workers can enjoy better wages and working conditions.
I will vote for the PRO Act to ensure that no union participation can be denied by any corporation. And I will always defend their right to assemble and petition their grievances.
Together, we #ChooseDemocracy and unionized labor!
Farnham for Ukraine

While our incompetent and corrupt U.S. President may have betrayed his agreement to help Ukraine by (allegedly) hampering its connectivity to Starlink, as Elon Musk blameshifts, I stand with President Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people to defend themselves against Russian aggression.
“Ukraine was blindsided by new limits placed on satellite connectivity inside the country that handicapped its ability to use military drones and defend against Russian attacks.
After bipartisan backlash on Wednesday, Elon Musk said it was the U.S., not his company SpaceX that provides the systems, that made the call.
The limits affected both the Starlink satellite connections, used for civilian and defensive activities, as well as Starshield, the version designed for government and military use for both defensive and offensive capabilities.”
Furthermore, I support Ukraine’s recent attack on the Russian data center that may have compromised bots that were working in favor of conservative candidates ahead of the election. I hope Ukraine gets them all.
Lastly, I support the increased sanctions against Russia by the European Union.
“Today the EU adopted the largest round of sanctions listings since 2022. Close to 1600 listings target Russia’s military-industrial complex. Over half address the production chain for the ballistic missiles Russia uses to kill Ukrainian civilians every day. Bombing Kyiv’s bridges, ships transporting grain, and the National Academy of Sciences are not the actions of a country seeking peace. This is not the time to ease pressure on Moscow but to increase it.”
Meanwhile, Trump has made a deal with Putin to buy deisel fuel from Russia.
“Last week, Trump announced via social media he had struck a deal with Putin, whereby Russia will supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel to the American and global market, followed by an additional 500,000 tons in November and one million tons “immediately thereafter.””
Of course, our own U.S. Representative in Congress, out-of-touch John Joyce, silently approves of making deals with Putin in the face of Ukraine suffering.
In 2024, Joyce even voted against a $60 billion military aid package for Ukraine that passed the House.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
We can be represented in Congress by someone who actually cares about our allies and recognizes that Russia is an enemy at this time.
Vote for me, Beth Farnham, on November 3rd, so we can stop this nonsense and be fully the ally for Ukraine we always were supposed to be.
Together, we #ChooseDemocracy and actual allyship!

Elon Musk points finger at Trump over Ukrainian satellite restrictions
There is bipartisan concern that Ukraine’s defense against Russian attacks has been hampered by the Trump administration ratcheting down the speed of its SpaceX-developed satellite system.
Trump attacks Zelensky as he receives major pushback on Russian diesel dealOctober 12, 2026 / 08:35

Ukraine was blindsided by new limits placed on satellite connectivity inside the country that handicapped its ability to use military drones and defend against Russian attacks.
After bipartisan backlash on Wednesday, Elon Musk said it was the U.S., not his company SpaceX that provides the systems, that made the call.
The limits affected both the Starlink satellite connections, used for civilian and defensive activities, as well as Starshield, the version designed for government and military use for both defensive and offensive capabilities.
On Tuesday night, Ukraine discovered that neither system could connect to data from objects — like satellite-controlled defensive and offensive drones — traveling more than 100 miles per hour, a source familiar with the actions told MS NOW on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive military operations.
Serhii Beskrestnov, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s defense technology adviser, confirmed overnight that the speed limit for use of Starshield services “resulted in the disruption of several missions.”
“It is clear that this action is not coincidental and is related to the current political situation,” Beskrestnov wrote.
The Starshield connections are “critical for Ukraine’s defense,” Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov wrote Wednesday on X, saying the high-speed use was being restored.
Musk said the Starshield satellite connections the Ukraine military relies on are ultimately controlled by President Donald Trump.
“Starshield systems are owned and controlled by the US government,” Musk wrote on X. “Any limits on speed or usage are decided by the US military and ultimately POTUS.”
The White House, Pentagon and SpaceX did not respond to MS NOW’s requests for comment.
SpaceX provided no prior warning to the Ukrainian government about the limitation, the source said. Ukrainian forces learned about the Starshield speed restrictions from customer support after filing a complaint about operational issues.
SpaceX informed Ukrainian officials that the restriction applies to drones and aircraft flying at speeds of 100 mph or higher, but, the source said, military units also reported issues with performance at lower drone speeds.
“This makes the operation of UAVs, airplanes and helicopters at high speeds impossible, which will also impact efforts to counter Shahed drones within Ukraine,” the source said, adding the speed restriction affects all defense operations and logistics, giving Russians “a real leverage on the frontline” at a time when Ukraine has effectively stopped their advances.
Even Republicans had strong words for both Musk and the Trump administration.
“I’m confident this does not reflect a change in SpaceX policy because if so, intentionally degrading Ukraine’s ability to defend itself might be construed as aiding and abetting a mass murderer,” Sen. Thom Tillis, R-S.C., wrote to Musk on X, asking him to clarify SpaceX’s position.
The timing of the Starshield changes coincides with Ukrainian officials saying the U.S. and allied partners have not been giving them the same amount of early warnings about incoming Russian ballistic missile attacks.
Rep. Don Bacon, R-Neb., said Trump’s decision to reduce intelligence sharing with Ukraine and access to Starlink equated to “aiding the invader & the war criminal who bombs cities,” and threatens to reduce congressional support for the Trump administration.
“Their agenda is dead unless they change paths,” Bacon wrote on X.
Ukraine Caucus Co-Chairs Reps. Marcy Kaptur, D-Ohio; Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa.; Mike Quigley, D-Ill.; and Joe Wilson, R-S.C., wrote in a bipartisan statement they were “alarmed” by reports of the U.S. withholding both intelligence and Starlink support, “putting innocent civilians and American citizens in Ukraine at the mercy of Russian attacks.”
“U.S. allies pay for Ukraine’s access to Starlink,” the lawmakers wrote. “Restrictions that put civilians in harm’s way are unconscionable and will not be accepted by Congress.”
The source familiar with Ukrainian forces’ use of Starshield confirmed to MS NOW that the signal was improving as of Wednesday afternoon, but only slightly. “The situation is better than before, but it is still not good enough, and the service has not returned to its previous level,” the source said.
Ukraine is seeking to restore its unlimited access regardless of speed, which was part of the current service agreement contracted through the U.S. government. The agreement has been in place since November 2025 and is expected to remain in effect through May 2027.
As SpaceX reduced Starshield connectivity for Ukraine overnight, Russia targeted critical energy infrastructure in the Kyiv and Kharkiv regions in a deadly ballistic missile strike.
Earlier this week, Trump denied withholding intelligence essential for Ukraine’s defenses after multiple threats against Ukraine if it failed to halt attacks on Russian oil refineries — even as Russia has flouted the so-called energy ceasefire announced by the president.
Rep. Jim Himes, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said in a statement that the committee “has received no notification of any change in posture with respect to intelligence support to Ukraine.”
Zelenskyy said in an interview Wednesday that he felt betrayed by Trump’s diesel deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin, announced last week, and that his immediate response was that Ukraine is “losing a strong partner” in America.
“We can’t be weak, otherwise we can’t survive,” he told Piers Morgan. “That’s why it’s painful when President Trump chooses one side — not our side.”
Zelenskyy criticized people around Trump for giving the president “wrong” advice.
“I think his advisers are wrong. I don’t know who — who is pushing him not to the right side,” Zelenskyy said. “This is not the right side of history.”

Pride in Franklin County

What an amazing time at Pride Fest last Sunday at Wilson College!
I fight for our agency over our own bodies and the freedom to create the families we choose.
I am against one type of marriage… CHILD MARRIAGE!
Festival attendees came with spirit, despite the heavy downpour.
I enjoyed answering voters’ questions about A.I. Data Centers, the Environment, Democracy, Reproductive Freedom, and more.
Voters took signs, literature, bumper stickers, and more so they can spread the word about my campaign.
Many thanks to Pride Franklin County for hosting this event and to Campaign Manager Jack Stansbury and Postcard Coordinator Sue Oberman for volunteering.

Farnham Stands Against Barbarism

**Update** Trump administration seems to have backed down, but they can’t be trusted.
Charity of the Week!
Even though charitable donations will not meet the overwhelming need of food assistance and healthcare for lower income Americans, these charities are a stopgap until I am elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and can legislate helpful federal programs as well as prevent a rapacious president from illegally impounding the congressionally-approved funds for those programs.
Please check out the Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) page and donate to them, if you can.
