District Round-up 06.21.26
Dear Neighbor, Thank you for reading my District Round-up. As your candidate for Pennsylvania’s 13th Congressional District, it is my honor and pleasure to deliver to you where I’ve been and what issues I’ve tackled in the past week. Criss-crossing the counties of Adams, Franklin, Fulton, Bedford, Cambria, Blair, Huntingdon, Mifflin, Juniata, Perry, Cumberland, and Somerset gives me great opportunities to meet with voters, hear what is on your hearts and minds, and the chance to voice my fight for Everyday Americans. Happy Juneteenth Weekend!

Many thanks to Chambersburg Borough Council Member Lu Butler and Friends for back-to-back inspiring Juneteenth events on Friday, June 19th and Saturday, June 20th at the Spring Street Amphitheater.
Thank you also to the Beth Farnham for Congress volunteers who pitched in to make this event a success- Sue, Claire, Deb, Jack, Brian, Angie, Chris, Bretni, and Don.
Chambersburg community members talked, broke luscious cinnamon rolls together, sang, and joined hands in several beautiful moments of unity and spirit. I especially appreciate the opportunity to address attendees on the meaning of Juneteenth.
I also spoke to voters and listened to what is on their hearts and minds.
So many are rightly concerned about violations of human rights as the current administration dehumanizes anyone who is not a wealthy white male.
Just when we’re celebrating freedom from slavery on a national holiday, we’re simultaneously experiencing neighbors, family, and coworkers being snatched away on trumped up charges and denied humane treatment.
But when you vote me into Congress, I’ll work with other caring legislators to right these wrongs.
Bet.
Please vote for me, Beth Farnham, on November 3rd.
Together, we #ChooseDemocracy and Humanity!

“The Doctor” is NOT in!

“I’m a doctor…As a doctor…”
Listen to any speech from our own US Representative, multimillionaire John Joyce, or look at any of his yard signs and he’s sure to remind you of his cherished title.
But when an incompetent administration spouts lies about evidenced-based medicine, “The Doctor” (as some constituents refer to him) is nowhere to be found.
While Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, falsely claims that the flu vaccine will “weaken war fighting capabilities,” 160 troops have fallen ill with the flu at an Air Force base in Texas.
Guess which troops are now the LEAST ready to fight in any combat??
Meanwhile, the total number of measles cases in Pennsylvania for this year alone has reached 67 and the United States is at risk of losing its “eliminated” status for measles.
But where is the person who wants everyone to know that he’s a (retired) dermatologist?
Well, he’s not speaking out about the flu vaccine, or the measles vaccine, nor does he advocate botanical science in the case of Trump’s failed attempts to combat the algae in the national reflecting pool.
Look, a medical degree is an admirable thing, but if the person who earned it is not fighting for solutions to disease transmission beyond herpes, if he is quietly condoning disinformation, then he shouldn’t represent us, especially not children and military members.
Worse, he even voted for thousands of his constituents to lose their healthcare last July.
I, Beth Farnham, however will advocate good health, including healthcare for all, rooted in evidence based-science.
I may not have a medical degree, but I have the good sense to fight for actual solutions to what ails us.
Please vote for me this November 3rd.
Together, we #ChooseDemocracy and good health!
My Neighbor’s Bounty Celebrates 5 Years!

Many thanks to the Tuscarora Chamber of Commerce for hosting a mixer at My Neighbor’s Bounty in Mercersburg!
It was a delightful evening to celebrate their 5 year anniversary with nibbles and good conversation.
I learned:
– 75% of the people they serve are aged 60 and over.
– that the SNAP funding gap this past Fall had a big impact on the people they serve, though the Central Food Bank helped tremendously.
– that produce and fresh meat are harder to come by, but candy is abundant.
– that a local business once donated dozens of eggs, but now donates nothing.
– that the Food Lion in Mercersburg is a big source of the food in the freezer section.
– that the Mercersburg Academy donates generously to the organization.
– that the number of people they serve has increased over time.
– that sometimes the food pantry is one of the first places people in crisis turn to and need services beyond what the food pantry offers.
Since our own Representative, multimillionaire John Joyce, won’t actually walk into a place like this and regret having voted for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act which removes food assistance from six thousand of his own constituents, please elect me, Beth Farnham, instead.
I care about our neighbors in need and never want them to starve. I believe in strengthening our social safety nets like SNAP, so hungry people don’t have to rely so heavily on charity. And Social Security should effectively cover the nutritional needs for Everyday Americans in their retirement. If you would like to give to this charity, follow the link in the comments.

SCREWWORMS!

Thank Congressman Joyce for the screwworm in our cattle.
By not stopping Elon Musk and his D.O.G.E. bros from illegally-impounding congressionally-approved funds for important programs like USAID, Joyce, along with other Trump worshippers, simply ushered in the New World Screwworm to infect our cattle.
In other words, by terminating USAID funding, projects to monitor and contain screwworm infections were also terminated.
“Among the GHS projects killed were some dedicated to monitoring and containing avian flu and New World Screwworm in Central America, monitoring avian flu outbreaks in Asia and improving the detection of new strains, and efforts to combat swine fever, according to a person familiar with the situation granted anonymity to speak frankly.”
And now Canada is temporarily restricting imports of American beef from the affected areas.
“The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said it will temporarily restrict imports of livestock from affected areas of the U.S.”
Joyce might say he supports farmers, but mostly, he just worms his way into photos with them before he screws them over.
Meanwhile, 445 birds were euthanized in Rhode Island due to an outbreak of avian flu.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
We can vote that hack out of office on November 3rd by voting for me, Beth Farnham, instead because I believe in evidence-based science that keeps our food sources and healthy and I won’t let our U.S. president illegally-impound congressionally-approved funds.

Charity of the Week!
Please donate to the National Foundation of Infectious Diseases, if you can.
With rising infections of multiple infectious diseases, now seems like a good time to support the NFID. They state on their website that they are, “dedicated to educating and engaging the public, communities, and healthcare professionals about infectious diseases across the lifespan.”

Comparing and Contrasting Votes on Legislation
Check out how Joyce recently voted, how I would have voted in comparison, and why!
FYI – if you’re having trouble seeing this comparison in your email, please click the option for “Read on Blog” and it will load properly for you.
If you’re like me, you love this country as much as I do and work to make a positive difference. In the midst of this Constitutional Crisis, please consider reaching out to your local Democratic committees or Democratic candidates so that we can strengthen our Democracy instead of letting it slide into fascism. We don’t just #ChooseDemocracy, we choose Pennsylvania, we choose The United States of America, we choose Humanity and I am deeply glad to work along side you. Sincerely, Beth
