District Round-up 06.28.26
Dear Neighbor, Thank you for reading my District Round-up. As your candidate for Pennsylvania’s 13th Congressional District, it is my honor and pleasure to deliver to you where I’ve been and what issues I’ve tackled in the past week. Criss-crossing the counties of Adams, Franklin, Fulton, Bedford, Cambria, Blair, Huntingdon, Mifflin, Juniata, Perry, Cumberland, and Somerset gives me great opportunities to meet with voters, hear what is on your hearts and minds, and the chance to voice my fight for Everyday Americans. If you would like to contribute to my campaign, please donate here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/beth-farnham-for-congress-1

Gettysburg Groundbreaking

It was a great day on Monday in Gettysburg for the groundbreaking of Dobbin House Square.
Many thanks to Education Forward for their generous donation of life-size replicas of the Declaration of Independence, the United States Constitution, the Bill of Rights, Civil Rights Amendments, and the Gettysburg Address.
The words of these historic documents are precious to our Democracy and belong in the public spaces so new generations can be inspired.

Recession Indicator!
Are your credit card balances rising? You’re not alone.
As a former credit analyst tasked with evaluating risk in order to increase or reduce credit lines, the increasing American credit card debt amount feels quite, quite familiar.
Not only is the national collective credit card balance nearing its 2011 peak of $1.25 trillion, but the delinquency rate is approaching that of the Great Recession 2010 peak of 13.7%.
That means that nearly $171.3 billion worth of credit card debt is 90 days delinquent or more.
Unsurprisingly, across several social media posts, credit card holders with stellar (self-reported) credit scores are posting credit line reductions on their cards even though they pay on time.
Indeed, it is a general practice of financial institutions to reduce credit lines of consumers, despite their excellent credit history, in order to reduce risk because banks don’t know who will all of a sudden run up this form of unsecured debt. History has shown that even people with good credit scores will put large amounts of debt on their credit cards when facing a financial crisis.
While gas prices have come down about $.14 since Trump’s Memorandum of Understanding with Iran, they’ve been so high for so long, people have had to resort to packing on the credit card debt to get by. And Trump isn’t helping the situation every time he threatens this tentative peace. Moreover, Iran still maintains the power to close the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, according to Consumer Price Index data, the cost of groceries has continued to rise 2.9% over April 2025.
And so hard-working families and retirees on a fixed income turn to their credit cards to make ends meet, then begin to fail to pay them.
Of course, our own U.S. Representative, multimillionaire John Joyce says nothing about the financial stress Americans are suffering under Trump. Instead, he poses for a picture with his foot on the stairs of Air Force One because he just admires Trump so much.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
We can fire Joyce by electing me, Beth Farnham, to US Congress on November 3rd because I actually care about Everyday Americans and would ensure, along with other caring legislators, liveable wages and social safety nets so Americans would not have to burden themselves with overwhelming debt and suffer poor credit scores.

Meet and Greet in Perry County!
Many, many thanks to Dr. Kim Boyer and Dr. Bill Sisson for hosting their fabulous meet and greet in Perry County and for each personally endorsing my campaign.
I truly appreciate the opportunity to engage with voters over the issues that are near and dear to our hearts – from uncapping contribution amounts of the ultra-wealthy toward social security in order to ensure solvency of the social security funds and dignity in our final years, to healthcare that insures all, to meeting the needs of our farmers, to halting the cruelty of the Trump administration, it was a great question and answer session.
I’m also deeply honored that Bill brewed a delicious American Wheat Ale and named it after the campaign.

Medicare/Medicaid Fraud!

Medicaid/Medicare fraud absolutely exists, but the perpetrators are more often the providers, not the beneficiaries.
“Federal prosecutors said the beneficiaries and physicians listed on the fraudulent claims had never heard of Oregon Clinical Laboratory and the genetic testing was never provided.”
In Pennsylvania, State Attorney General, Dave Sunday, filed charges yesterday against eight people who committed fraud too.
“Armstrong submitted time entries for more than one Medicaid consumer at the same time, and she was paid $70,0332 for services she did not provide, according to investigators.”
This is because the Medicaid/Medicare money doesn’t go to the beneficiaries directly, but to the ambulance companies, pharmacies, hospitals, nurses, doctors, home health agencies, and a whole host of providers.
Yet, our own US Representative, multimillionaire John Joyce, voted to take away healthcare from 17k constituents because he falsely claims they defrauded the system.
Without any proof of wrongdoing, Joyce damned the poorest people of our 13th Congressional District into even poorer health.
Meanwhile, again, because he and others like him signed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act that ended covid era subsidies for Pennie, the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) of Pennsylvania, over 145k Pennsylvanians whose monthly Pennie premiums leapt up by several hundred dollars per person have dropped their insurance.
Instead of helping Everyday Americans, the Trump administration is hell-bent on hurting them.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
You can elect me, Beth Farnham, to fire Trump, Vance, RFK Jr, other civil officials, and Supreme Court Justices so that we don’t simply exist, but thrive. I’ll work with other caring legislators to create a national healthcare plan so no American goes without coverage.
Why?
Because healthcare is a human right and the richest country in the world can foot the bill, instead of paying for costly and unjustified wars in Iran, or deportation of asylum seekers.

Fighting the Mob

While Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, is running a mob operation in Congress, I’m fighting for our precious Democracy on the streets of Johnstown.
Many thanks to Kierson Daily and Johnstown for Choice for hosting the important “All of Us” rally today despite the rain. Courageous attendees braved the weather to stand for Democracy, bodily autonomy, human rights, and so much more.
Meanwhile, Representative Johnson declared that he offers a “protection program” for Trump, a pedophile, and his congressional cronies, like our own US Representative, multimillionaire John Joyce.
To change this corrupt element in our us Congress, I ask that you please vote for me on November 3rd.
When you choose Beth Farnham, you #ChooseDemocracy

Charity of the Week!
Please donate to the National Foundation of Infectious Diseases, if you can.
With rising infections of multiple infectious diseases, now seems like a good time to support the NFID. They state on their website that they are, “dedicated to educating and engaging the public, communities, and healthcare professionals about infectious diseases across the lifespan.”

Comparing and Contrasting Votes on Legislation
Check out how Joyce recently voted, how I would have voted in comparison, and why!
FYI – if you’re having trouble seeing this comparison in your email, please click the option for “Read on Blog” and it will load properly for you.
If you’re like me, you love this country as much as I do and work to make a positive difference. In the midst of this Constitutional Crisis, please consider reaching out to your local Democratic committees or Democratic candidates so that we can strengthen our Democracy instead of letting it slide into fascism. We don’t just #ChooseDemocracy, we choose Pennsylvania, we choose The United States of America, we choose Humanity and I am deeply glad to work along side you. Sincerely, Beth
