Hidden Maternal Mortality Rate
“Life of the mother” is the cry of pro-lifers as their touted exception to abortion bans, but they don’t really mean it.
Ever since Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022, many conservative states imposed very restrictive abortion bans, based on the heartbeat bill that Texas created in 2021, using vague language surrounding the process to override the ban in the event that a mother’s life was at risk.
Since doctors wouldn’t risk their licensure and loss of freedom to 99 years in prison on the chance that legislators wouldn’t approve the abortion, they delayed care to those in need. Maternal mortality rates leapt in Texas so much so, they decided to delay the reports.
And the mothers continued to die.
Josseli Barnica was one such mother. Like 60% of those who seek abortion, she was actually already a mother, and this was a wanted pregnancy. But the fetus had miscarried, opening her cervix, exposing her uterus to dangerous bacteria. However, it still had a heartbeat and because of that, doctors would not perform the necessary operation to save her life. No one could save the fetus, and three days later, no one could save her from the sepsis that followed.
Because a fetus had a heartbeat, a woman who wanted more children died and her daughter was left without a mother.
Now we learn that Texas will not release the reports on maternal mortality for 2022-2023 until after the midterms.
Why?
Because if American voters understood that conservatives don’t really care about mothers and children, then they would vote for Democrats – Democrats who actually support mothers and children with policies that strengthen social safety nets so that mothers and children receive the healthcare and nutrition they need not to simply exist, but to THRIVE.

And rest assured, I would not have voted for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act that our own US Representative, multimillionaire Joyce voted for – twice. Already, over 11,000 SNAP recipients in our 13th Congressional District have lost their benefits since OBBBA SNAP changes went into effect.
Please vote for me, Beth Farnham, on November 3rd because I believe in women making the best choices for our own bodies, the freedom to create the families we choose, and the social safety nets that help mothers and children stay healthy.

Honored to Address Machinists in Philadelphia
On Tuesday, I was honored to speak to members of the International Association of Machinists in Philadelphia. I was further honored to have been officially endorsed by them.
Our Machinists fight for the rights of laborers across the country and I will be sure to carry that fight into the US House of Representatives. In voting for the PRO Act, I’ll be sure that corporations will be required to give a seat at the table to unions formed within the prior 90 days of the meeting. Corporations won’t be able to force their employees to watch “Right to Work” nonsense and no corporation will be able to deny union membership. I’ll also advocate a national healthcare plan so workers won’t have to settle for jobs they hate to have their basic healthcare needs met.
President Biden once said, “The middle class built America and the unions built the middle class,” and he wasn’t wrong. The good jobs have the wages and benefits they do because of the sacrifices of many union workers across the generations.
Working Families deserve the rights, wages, and working conditions that ensure work-life balance and dignity in retirement. I can’t wait to represent them in Congress.

Town Hall in Gettysburg
Many thanks to The People’s Town Hall of Gettysburg for hosting the Town Hall today at The Barn Resort.
I appreciate the opportunity to have answered questions about Big Tech, town halls, and public education from District 13 residents. Fellow candidates Kathleen Pratt for PA 91st and Todd Crawley did a fantastic job answering questions.
Of course, none of the Republican incumbents were brave enough to participate, and our own US Representative, multimillionaire John Joyce, couldn’t be bothered to even observe courtesy to decline.
No worries. He’s fired anyway.
Elect me, Beth Farnham, to represent our beautiful 13th Congressional District because you know that not only will I vote in the interests of Everyday Americans, I’ll show up for you too.

Heritage Festival
Sunday was a lovely day to celebrate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Adams County.
Many thanks to the Adams County Heritage Festival Committee for hosting another successful year of festive music, delicious food, and rich culture.
I spoke at length with our new Democratic Commissioner, Mark Clowney, caught up with dear friends, and encouraged new voters to vote for me.

AMAZING REPRESENTATION!
What an AMAZING day!
Many thanks to Team Beth Farnham volunteers who made our presence known in 3 counties all at once on Saturday.
In Mercersburg, campaign manager Jack Stansbury and other volunteers fought the wind to deliver literature and yard signs to voters.
In Thompsontown, Sandy Hartzell and volunteers, including Juniata County Democratic Committee Chair Spencer McLaughlin worked to acquaint voters with the campaign.
In Ebensburg, I worked with several volunteers to help voters at the Potatofest know what’s at stake – the soul of our nation, for example.
It was a great time to hand out yard signs, literature, and bumper stickers.

Charity of the Week!
Even though charitable donations will not meet the overwhelming need of food assistance and healthcare for lower income Americans, these charities are a stopgap until I am elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and can legislate helpful federal programs as well as prevent a rapacious president from illegally impounding the congressionally-approved funds for those programs.
